Optic Nest was a regular on Mother stages whether on his own or with a live band consisting of two other favourites, Lotti Sollevi and Max Park Sigbjörn. His Moptaco Dics releases were always an inspiration whether they be Per Nyström or Landcrabs, and he is perhaps most known as one fourth of The Skull Defekts or as one half of CRYME with Mattias Gustafsson (Altar of Flies).
He’s always had a healthy obsession with analog synths, creating psychedelic electro soundscapes heavy with rhythm and full of decayed tape loops, alien vocals, drum machines and feedbacking delays. So yeah, greatness in a word.
This early stuff makes me think of Hans Edler, Throbbing Gristle or Bruce Haack and these first three tapes of his, recorded between 99 and 09, were a crucial influence for many musicians in the Stockholm underground. Now is the time for this music to live and breathe again.
