My grandmothers died young. Fathers aunt was 109 years when she passed. Its a hazardous game, life, in different eras. So what for your 50th birthday, half way? I decided Faroe Islands. To see a writer I met at a course in Ecocritisism. I made field recordings. Bumblebees outside a supermarket, the churchbell, a helicopter suddenly appearing, in the artmuseum and recordshop Tutl and the library. Sheep, birds, a boattrip with a guide in english, a restaurant, me talking about huldufolk and drinking beer, sitting on a cliff while suddenly saying PANORAMA! at the beauty of the Islands peeking over the edge. It is now two years ago the trip. It was this new years weekend I recorded the pianobits that I decieded should accompany it. Now I am finally into the last phase of the project.
I will make 100 cassettes with all of it. There will be a CD also 100 copies. Called “Raw Piano” with only the piano composition. About 90 minutes. It will be two art pieces. I will also do a digital release, a 4 track EP. It will be named “Excerpts from Raw piano: improvisations to fieldrecordings from a trip to Faroe Islands”. They will be uploaded her shortly. The cassette and cd is taking a little more time in mix and mastering. Sorry about that. I hope it to be available in the end of August.
