PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION by the BRUT ensemble is a musical reflexion from 16 art works selected from the exhibition “Visiting Anselme Boix-Vives” shown at the UPPSALA ART MUSEUM / SWEDEN during the summer 2019. In this album, each music pieces echos one painting. The painting becoming the score.
The clear color scale, the figures and motives often shapes of people, animals and nature, the explicite tittles,
many valuable informations for the musician to complement and recreate this meaningful(ness) world of fantasies.
For most of his life Anselme Boix-Vives (1899–1969) ran a vegetable shop in the village of Moûtiers in the French Savoy.
Alongside his work, Boix-Vives developed a pacifist worldview, wrote several “peace” manifestos and courted the world’s leaders with his message. In 1962 Anselme Boix-Vives encouraged by his son Michel began to paint. For seven years until his death in 1969,
he created about 2,400 paintings and drawings. He was a self-made painter and expressed through his painting and drawings
his own visual world and the pursuit of peace on earth.
